FAQ
Questions? You’re in the right place.
Here are quick answers to some of the things people wonder about before starting. If your question isn’t here, reach out anytime β I’m happy to help.
Mostly, we talk. There’s no script and nothing you need to prepare. In early sessions we’ll get to know each other and explore what brought you in. From there, we move at your pace β noticing patterns, unpacking the stories you carry, and finding steps that feel meaningful. You’re always in the driver’s seat.
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. People come for all kinds of reasons β stress, big transitions, relationships, identity, grief, or simply a sense of feeling stuck. The free consultation is a low-pressure way to find out if it feels like a fit for you.
It’s a free, 20-minute virtual meet-and-greet. We’ll chat about what you’re looking for, I’ll answer any questions, and you can get a feel for how we might work together. There’s no obligation to book further sessions β finding the right fit is what matters most.
Yes. I offer secure, confidential virtual and telehealth services for clients across Canada. Walk and Talk sessions may also be available in Winnipeg when appropriate and are subject to weather conditions.
Yes. What you share in session is private and protected. There are a few legal and ethical limits to confidentiality β for example, if there’s a risk of serious harm β and I’ll walk you through exactly what those are at the start, so you always know where you stand. [Confirm specifics for your jurisdiction.]
Current rates are listed on the Services page. Receipts are provided for you to submit to your insurance or employee benefit plan, but insurance companies are not billed directly. If cost is a barrier, please ask β a limited number of sliding-scale sessions are available.
Absolutely β and for people of all genders, relationship styles, and ways of loving. Wayfinder Therapeutic is an affirming practice. You never have to explain, justify, or educate. You’ll be met with respect and genuine care, exactly as you are.
That’s completely up to you and what you need. Many people start weekly or biweekly and adjust over time. Sessions typically run about 50 minutes. There’s no minimum commitment β you’re free to pause or wrap up whenever feels right.
Narrative therapy is built on the idea that we understand our lives through stories. Sometimes those stories β shaped by hard experiences β start to define us in unhelpful ways. Together we’ll separate you from the problem, question the stories that no longer serve you, and re-author ones that reflect your values, strengths, and hopes for the future.
The easiest way is to book a free consultation online, or send an email or text. From there, we’ll arrange a secure virtual session or discuss whether a Walk and Talk session in Winnipeg is a good fit. Taking that first step is often the hardest part, and I’m glad you’re considering it.
